Abu Dhabi: The Federal Government is determined to make all its services easily accessible to all members of the public, stressed His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad made the statement as he launched the UAE Government YouTube channel during a Cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Palace. Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad highlighted the opportunities available to ministries and federal authorities to interact efficiently and in a transparent manner with customers, and create services that meet the aspirations of Emiratis and residents.

Enhance efficiency

“We have to deliver the services to people before they come to us. We want to cut down the distance and save time in all the services we provide for both Emiratis and residents,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

He stressed that the YouTube channel will play an important role in the easy access of services. “The channel will serve as a point of reference for the people so they can acquaint themselves with services provided. It will also help governmental bodies to enhance the efficiency of their services,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

“We are harnessing social media sites to make people happy and improve governmental work. We continue to utilise all means of technology and communication for the benefit of the country and its people,” added Shaikh Mohammad.

The channel will serve as an official and exclusive source for news pertaining to federal government. The channel will also present the most prominent services provided by ministries and government bodies, and clips explaining procedures pertaining to these services through the use of info graphics. The channel will also contain behind-the-scenes footage on projects that are being implemented. The channel can be accessed using the link: www.youtube.com/uaegov

The Cabinet approved regulations pertaining to the Federal Law on veterinary quarantine. The regulations aim to ensure public safety and enhance food security. The Cabinet approved the restructuring of the board of the National Transport Authority, under the chairmanship of Dr Abdullah Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works.

The Cabinet approved the setting up of embassies in Cuba, Angola, Mozambique, and a consulate in Toronto, Canada, as well as an agreement with Serbia in which both the UAE and Serbia will exempt holders of diplomatic and official passports from having to obtain entry visas.

Agreements ratified

A security cooperation agreement with Afghanistan, and a prisoner extradition and legal counselling agreement with Russia were also ratified by the Cabinet.

The UAE Cabinet extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Egyptian people on electing Abdul Fattah Al Sissi as president. The Cabinet seized the historic occasion to praise the progress achieved by the Egyptian people to consolidate the legitimacy of the constitution. It stressed that the UAE continues to work on developing the deep historic relations between the two countries and their peoples, and wished the Egyptian people more stability and prosperity.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the election of Al Sissi backs stability in both Egypt and the Arab world. He said that the UAE will provide all forms of assistance and support to the Egyptian leadership during the coming period in order to achieve the hopes of the Egyptian people. He expressed his happiness at Al Sissi’s election, and his hope that the move is a new era of stability and security for the people of Egypt.

Saudi relation

The Cabinet also expressed its pride in strong brotherly relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and welcomed the development of the avenue of these relations to new strategic dimensions that will serve to strengthen the mutual benefits for both countries and their peoples. 

The Cabinet issued the statement after Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, looked into the results of the meeting between General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prince Mohammad Bin Naif, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Interior. 

The Cabinet was also briefed on the verbal message from Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Cabinet also praised the setting up of a joint committee that will be chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries.
