Dubai: The importance of setting up and running protected areas in the UAE is an important pillar in the country’s policy to maintain the environment and developing it, which was a policy laid down a long time ago by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, said Dr Rashid Ahman Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water.

In a speech delivered on the occasion of the world wetlands day, Dr Rashid Ahman Bin Fahad also pointed out that the UAE is keen on following all the wise directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He added that the UAE has succeeded in transforming large areas into protected areas.

In the context of this policy, Bin Fahad said that wetlands in the UAE got their share of care as part of the UAE vision of 2021.
