Dubai: Building the future is a core responsibility shared by all governments, private sector institutions and international organisations as it is a key pillar for the prosperity, development and welfare of societies, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said ahead of the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils launch on Sunday at Madinat Jumeirah.

“It has become necessary for everyone to double his/her efforts and develop the structure of all organisations in a way that enables them to move on to the future successfully. Shaping and exploring the future is a key element for ensuring the prosperity and development of all societies and achieving the well-being of all citizens. It is the only way to devise possible scenarios for challenges expected to face the entire world across various fields to transform them into development opportunities,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

“We have to anticipate rapid changes going on in the world, which are associated with the technological innovation revolution since, if we lag behind and allow these changes to go faster than we respond to them, then we will have no place in the future. So we have to work very quickly to ensure our advancements and preservation of our prosperity,” Shaikh Mohammad added.

Shaikh Mohammad highlighted that the elite group of experts and future explorers being hosted by the UAE will have a number of topics and future challenges they need to set solutions for and propose initiatives that directly connect to human communities.

“We are very excited that the UAE’s experience in exploring the future will be strongly present in the meeting through the participation of Emirati future experts from the private and public sector.

“From the early stages, the UAE has recognised the importance of properly planning for the future and contributed to mobilise global efforts in this direction. We are tirelessly working to shape a better future for our generations to come through developing well-considered programmes, strategies and initiatives that would bring about landmark achievements and successes and promote the UAE’s position as a destination for future experts in the world,” Shaikh Mohammad noted.

The Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is being organised by the UAE government and the World Economic Forum (Davos) on November 13 and 14, in implementation of the directives of Shaikh Mohammad to enhance the strategic partnership with Davos to look into challenges facing the world and to find future solutions.

The event, the world’s largest intellectual gathering comprising more than 700 experts, will set the agenda of the world in the years ahead and will plan for a new stage of future exploration through providing innovative solutions and initiatives.
