Building communities through giving: Dubai Police earns double recognition
In a proud moment that adds to its long record of community service, Dubai Police won two awards at the 22nd Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW).
The awards were presented at a special ceremony held at the Sharjah Education Academy, which brought together senior government officials and well-known figures in the field of community work.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansoori, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness at Dubai Police, received the ‘Distinguished Supporter of Volunteer Work’ Awardfor the second year in a row. He also accepted the ‘Best Voluntary Initiative in the Government Institutions’ Award for the Hemaya Schools initiative.
Several Dubai Police team members attended the event, including Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of Hemaya Schools Office; Captain Saeed Al Ketbi, Acting Director of the Community Relations Department; Captain Mohammad bin Shafia, Head of the Boys' Section at Hemaya Schools; Ms. Naima Al Sari, Head of the Volunteer Department; and Mr. Basel Jamil.
Dubai Police runs a volunteer platform that welcomes people of all ages to get involved in community service. It offers different ways to contribute, whether by supporting safety, raising awareness, or participating in social projects. Volunteers are recognized through certified hours and appreciation awards, encouraging more people to take part.
One of Dubai Police’s most important community projects is the Hemaya Schools. These schools provide free education to the children of Dubai Police officers and civilian staff. The schools focus on creating a positive, safe learning environment that combines modern teaching methods with strong national and moral values. They also help prepare students to be active, responsible members of society.
Brigadier Al Mansoori said this success would not have been possible without the vision and ongoing support of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
He added, “Dubai Police always works to make volunteering a part of everyday life. We believe it is an essential part of building strong, caring communities. Through teamwork and support from our partners, we will continue to grow the volunteering system because giving back is a national duty and part of the UAE’s proud spirit.”
