Strategy aims to better allocate resources, and use AI more effectively
Dubai: In a move aimed at enhancing public safety and operational efficiency, Dubai Police has introduced a new zoning strategy that divides the emirate into urban and rural areas. The initiative is designed to improve security coverage, speed up emergency response times, and make better use of resources, including personnel, patrol routes, and smart technologies powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Review meeting
Announced during the General Department of Operations’ first-quarter performance review, the strategy aligns with the broader goals of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The meeting was chaired by Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations. The meeting brought together top leadership, including Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs; Major General Dr Saleh Abdullah Murad, Director of Human Resources; Brigadier Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of Excellence and Leadership; Brigadier Turki bin Faris, Acting Director of Operations; Colonel Ahmed Al Muhairi, Acting Deputy Director of the Commander’s Office; along with several senior officers.
Rapid response
Major General Al Mansouri highlighted the vital role the Operations Department plays in public safety and the rapid dispatch of patrols and emergency teams. He explained that by categorising Dubai’s regions as either urban or rural, police teams can be better positioned to meet the specific needs of each area – whether it’s traffic control, crime prevention or community engagement.
The goal, Major General Al Mansouri said, is to keep Dubai among the safest cities in the world while enhancing overall community satisfaction.
Brigadier bin Faris added that the new zoning model will help improve operational efficiency, bolster emergency response efforts, and support innovation in police services as Dubai continues to grow and evolve.
