Dubai Police Air Wing keeps a constant eye on the skies of Dubai, providing an efficient back-up to Dubai Police in maintaining the safety and security of this booming city.

Dubai Police Air Wing was established in 1978 with just two aircraft and three expatriate pilots.

Currently, the Air Wing owns five advanced aircraft and 16 well-qualified national pilots.

The Air Wing has played a huge role in decreasing the number of land and sea accidents in Dubai and the northern emirates.

Mission

The mission of the Air Wing is to provide quality pre-hospital medical emergency management and other related services in Dubai and neighbouring emirates.

This is achieved with the help of the Dubai Police Department through a continual evaluation and improvement process, enhancement of staff competency and integration with supporting bodies towards achieving customer satisfaction.

According to Colonel Pilot Anas Al Matroushi, Director of Dubai Police Air Wing, the department is currently training six individuals, two as instructors and four to be recruited as new pilots.

Basic Services

The nine basic services of Dubai Police Air Wing include search and rescue (land and sea), special operation (rapid insertion/extraction), police patrol, emergency medical and trauma transfer, multiple patient transport during MCI, neonatal transport with the use of incubator, intensive medical transport, VIP transport/escort and documentation and research.

"We have to be in the air within three minutes of receiving a call. We are keen to get to any site in Dubai within 15 minutes," says Colonel Pilot Al Matroushi.

He adds that the current number of aircraft is not enough, keeping in mind the changes and developments of the city.

Colonel Pilot Al Matroushi says, "In the past, they used to attend to 40 to 45 traffic accidents every year. However, now they attend about 300 traffic accidents every year. There is a plan to increase the number of aircraft and pilots and train the pilots on everything latest in the field."
