Dubai: Dubai Municipality will install 215 new cameras and 25 motion sensors by end of March, to ensure safety in all its locations.

Khalifa Hareb, Director of the Assets Management Department said, the security cameras and sensors will ensure the safety of the municipality’s customers, employees and properties.

He said the existing cameras and recorders have played a big role in monitoring all centres and buildings run by the Municipality and helped pinpoint problem areas.

This helped them reduce any practices that could delay customers, and improve customer service.

These additions will bring the total number of cameras in Municipality buildings to 1,508 and the motion sensors to 101.

The municipality is currently working on installing 10 cameras at workers’ accommodations in Warsan, nine in Naif area, eight at Creek Park gates, seven at Mushrif Park gates, six at Al Mamzar Park gates and five in Children’s City.

In addition to four cameras in the barn in Al Tai area, three at the veterinarian quarantine in Al Hamirya and two in Al Quoz 2 cemetery and one camera at Al Lusailly Veterinarian clinic.

Obaid Ebrahim Al Marzouqi, Head of Security and Administrative services, said that the Municipality has an advanced operations room where they have full control of the all the cameras.

He said there are future plans to install more surveillance cameras at the Hatta and Deira abattoirs, Hatta Centre, staff accommodation buildings in Al Twar and Al Murraqabat, Al Rashidiya market and in Al Barsha and Umm Suqeuim offices.

The plan also includes installing cameras at the transportation department and in the scrap yard in the Hamriyah market.
