Al Maktoum mosque opens in Dundee

£1.35m mosque opened by UAE Ambassador to UK

Dundee: The new £1.35 million Al Maktoum Mosque near the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education (AMCHE) campus in Dundee was opened by Abdul Rahman Ganem Al Mutaiwe’e, UAE Ambassador to the UK.

The mosque was built under the patronage and contribution of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.

The built area of the three-storey mosque is 650-square metre of the total area of 1,650 metres. The mosque is designed to accommodates 160 male and 100 female worshippers. In addition to the prayers halls, it also has a hall for meetings and events.

Present at the opening ceremony were Mirza Al Sayegh, Chairman of the AMCHE’s Board of Trustees, Dr Ahmad Bin Hazeem, Director of Dubai Courts, Lord Elder, Chancellor of AMCHE, and Hussain Halawa, imam of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Dublin.
