A summer camp focussing on music lessons, dance classes, arts and craft for children between the ages of four and 15 years is being conducted at the Golden Talent Music Centre in Dubai.
Taking place daily from 9.00am to 12.00 noon, except on Fridays, the second session of the camp commences this month. Students may learn to play the organ, guitar or piano as well as indulge in fun activities including field trips to a water park and a biscuit factory.
At the end of the session, the kids display their talent for parents with a performance. Having recently concluded the first session of its summer camp, a special function was organised by the centre last week for the parents of participating students.
Similar to an annual day event of a school, the function was held to give the children an opportunity to showcase what they had learnt during the course of the summer camp.
The performances ranged from organ, drum and piano recitals to film, folk and western dances by the kids. "It gives children a platform and opportunity to perform and gain a lot of confidence," says Jacintha Moras who runs the centre in Karama. Children are also given certificates at the end of the summer camp.
"I want my daughter to acquire some skill in a fun-filled environment during the holidays," says Seema who wants to enrol her daughter at the centre. "The school arranges transportation and also provides refreshments, so it is a good option for working mothers as well," she adds.
The Golden Talent Music Centre runs regular classes for children and adults throughout the year and has been doing so for the last 15 years. Students may encounter several opportunities throughout the year to perform at public functions on various occasions like the Dubai Shopping Festival and other events involving professionals and filmstars.
