Karak chai, the popular UAE beverage, can now be delivered to your desk every morning at the click of a button. All you have to do is go online and place your order.

The initiative is the brainchild of Emirati entrepreneurs Abdul Rahim Mohammad, General Manager and founder of the website www.cmartuae.com and Abdul Aziz Al Murshidi, owner of Moonlight Foodstuff Trading.

The website offers different types of tea, coffee and milk. "We launched this service two weeks ago and have had an overwhelming response," said Mohammad.

"We deliver from Media City to Sharjah and Ajman," he added. The website also provides online shopping for items from mobile phones to cars and even groceries, including a delivery service.

The predominantly Arabic website also has an English language help tool. To place an order, users should register and then send an e-mail requesting the amount, kind of tea and delivery location at the order section of the site.

"We have hired specialist Karak chai makers to prepare our tea. We use the best, and all natural, ingredients for our tea and have a secret recipe," said Mohammad.

Karak chai, meaning "strong or crisp tea", is a popular item served in cafés around Dubai and is originally an Indian variety. The tea is known to give an energy boost.

Al Murshidi, who owns the first Emirati tea factory based in Ras Al Khaimah, said, "We have created our own tea brand, Al Maras, and made a purely Emirati blend from the best Ceylon tea."|

The company hopes to also deliver breakfast in the future.

A Local Cuppa:

Al Maras tea is the first UAE blend tea according to its owner Abdul Aziz Al Murshidi.

Al Murshidi said he launched this initiative with support from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment For Young Business Leaders in order to help cut the price hike in tea that is caused by the inflation.

"We have a 100 per cent Emirati-run company, we want to help our citizens," he said.
