Girl, 7, killed in Sharjah run-over accident

Sharjah: A seven-year-old Afghan girl died after she was run over by a speeding car while crossing a road in Al Mamzar area in Sharjah on Monday afternoon, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The girl, identified as F.M., was admitted to Al Qasimi Hospital where she died soon after. Police patrols and paramedics arrived at the scene after they were alerted around 5.30pm.

Police said the child was with her family when the accident occurred.

Police said the female driver who caused the accident was speeding and not paying attention. “The driver is in custody and is being questioned at Al Buhairah police station,” official said.

Sharjah Police appealed to all parents to observe road safety rules and asked motorists to give priority to people crossing roads.
