General Electric International has signed three long-term services agreements (LTSA) with independent power producers and industrial companies in the UAE, Qatar and Oman.

The contracts cover repairs and field services on GE power generators over pre-agreed periods.
"LTSAs allow our customers to take advantage of GE's extensive professional maintenance services at very competitive costs," said Nabil Habayeb, GE's national executive for the Gulf and general manager of GEPower Systems for Africa, India and the Middle East.

"Customers also benefit from direct access to a dedicated, on-site, GE field expert who oversees the contract's execution throughout its duration."

The UAE contract is with the Total Tractebel Emirates O&M Co in Abu Dhabi for the Taweelah A1 desalination and power plants. It provides upgrades for the existing GE Frame 9E gas turbine generators and maintenance services for all eight GE Frame 9E DLN machines for 16 years.

The LTSA in Qatar is with the petrochemicals maker Qatar Vinyl Co. It covers maintenance of four GE Frame 6B DLN machines over eight years.

In Oman, the company signed the contract with the United Power Co in Manah for two GE Frame 9E machines for a 20-year term. Tractebel is the lead foreign investor on this project. General Electric International is a division of GE Power Systems.

"We are building partnerships with our customers," said Jean Claude Nasr, Middle East regional sales manager for GE Energy Services - Contractual Services. "GE is moving away from the conventional simple transaction relationship with clients to one where we provide them with complete power solutions."
