The Fujairah Government is discussing tenders presented by three major investment companies to build around 100 tourist residential rooms, including 40 five-star chalets, on the Fujairah Corniche in cooperation with the Fujairah International Marine Club.
Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed, Director of the Fujairah International Marine Club, told Gulf News that the new project will be the largest of its kind to be constructed in Fujairah city to attract more visitors and tourists.
"The new deluxe residential rooms and chalets will be a new addition to Fujairah's hotels and motels. Visitors and tourists could enjoy staying on the beaches of Fujairah more freely and without hotels' procedures of checking in and out," said Mohammed.
He pointed out that the new project will be set up on Fujairah Corniche, between the Fujairah Hilton Hotel and the Fujairah International Marine Club.
"The 40 new chalets, along with the other deluxe tourist rooms, will be built on a land granted by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah," he added.
"The rooms and chalets will also have a special health club, a swimming pool and a major restaurant that offers seafood and other international cuisine delicacies," said Ibrahim adding that the revenue of the chalets and rooms will be used to improve the marine club.
Mohammed noted that the investor, who will be selected to set up the project, will start the construction works very soon hoping to complete the whole project by the end of this year.
"The new project is expected to boost the tourism industry of the emirate.
More tourists and visitors and local families from other emirates are expected to flock Fujairah after completing the project to enjoy a special way of beach tourism and entertainment," he added.
On the other hand, the Fujairah Government recently discovered an old marine site off Fujairah coast and decided to turn it into a new natural marine reef to attract more small and rare species of fish.
"The discovered marine site off Fujairah coast is around 500 years old. It is full of natural corals and will be soon turned into a new marine natural reserve which would help support the fish stock of the region by atracting more small fish which can reproduce safely," said Mohammed.
The new marine reserve would be added to the three major artificial marine reefs which were constyructed by Dibba Al Fujairah Municiplaity five years ago, he added.
Mohammed noted that more than 70 schoolchildren have also started a new summer marine programme at the Fujairah International Marine Club.
"More than 70 school-children, ages 10 to 15, have joined the club's marine summer programme which is being organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Youth for the last three successive years," said Ibrahim.
