Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), among the top four IT vendors in the region, has bagged a major contract to supply its Lifebook C Series laptops to the Qatar-based Al Jazeera Television Channel.

The Al Jazeera TV Channel's order was placed through Business Communications Qatar, a distributor of FSC products in Qatar.
Yasser Saleh, Business Development Manager, Business Communications Qatar, said: "Al Jazeera Channel came to us with specific requirements concerning the laptops they were looking for, and we had no hesitation in recommending Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C Series notebooks because of their proven superiority over other products in a similar category."
The C series laptops are highly configurable - the buyer can decide between a built in CD, DVD or Combo drive. The S-video out port offers easy connection to standard TV sets or projectors.
For fast access to digital camcorders, scanners and other external devices, an optional FireWire port is available. A new S/PDIF port transfers the digital audio data between CD, DVD players and amplifiers. For easy cable management, an optional Port Replicator can be availed of.
Founded in 1996 with a grant of $140 million from the Government of Qatar, Al Jazeera currently has an estimated global audience of over 35 million.
"Al Jazeera channel is associated with scoops and breaking stories, especially those pertaining to the Arab world. Its indepth analyses and bold commentaries on the burning issues of the day are watched by a global audience," said Salah Al Seddiqi, Head of IT Department, Al Jazeera Channel.
"As a news channel whose prime motto is to provide breaking news stories, we pay great attention to the tools used by our reporters to despatch these stories.
"It is essential that the laptops and cameras we use offer optimum performance and advanced mobile computing technology as our reporters are often based in remote locations."
