Food at your doorstep

Room Service is a food delivery service offering a wide variety of restaurants and cuisine to choose from. This concept originated in Chicago in 1990 and has been operating in Dubai since March 1998.

Amer Arab, managing director of Room Service in Dubai, says: "We are a one-of-kind delivery service is Dubai."
At present more than 50 restaurants are participating in the service, including Chili's, The Boston Bar, Billy Blues, Brauhaus and La Moda. A wide variety of cuisines, including Japanese, Indian, Thai, Lebanese, Italian, Mexican and Chinese are available. Restaurant menus are bundled into one booklet and circulated free of charge to customers.

Deliveries are done in the greater Dubai area, Mirdif, Jebel Ali and Sharjah, and usually done within the hour. Until 6.00pm, deliveries are free of charge for a minimum food order of Dhs 40, but thereafter a delivery fee of Dhs 20 per restaurant is added to the bill.

The strangest delivery request yet was for a birthday cake to be taken to a location in the desert. Equally strange was a request for food to be delivered to a boat which was docked. The boat sailed off after delivery.
