Sharjah: A massive fire broke out in a fenced factory area in Sharjah’s Al Hamriya Port around 4pm on Sunday.

Firefighters from Sharjah quickly battled the flames and prevented it from spreading to adjacent premises.

Police cordoned off the area to ease the work of the Civil Defence team.

Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, director general of Sharjah Civil Defence, told Gulf News that plastic materials were stored on the premises.

Motorists heading towards Umm Al Quwain reported seeing thick black plumes of smoke billowing from the factory.
