The success of the Filipino movie Dubai, which finished showing after a three-day run in its namesake city, has left the distributors wondering if they should stage a comeback.
Distributor ABS-CBN said more than 8,000 people watched the romantic drama, which was shot fully in Dubai.
"We are waiting to see the clamour for the movie to see if we should re-run it," said Arturo Losbanos, senior sales and marketing manager for ABS-CBN, the distributors.
He added that the premiere was also staged to coincide with the leading actors' visit here.
"We heard that some people in Dubai travelled to Abu Dhabi when they heard that there were still some seats available," Losbanos told Gulf News by telephone.
A Filipina secretary working in Dubai who wished to be identified only as Laurie said she liked the movie and would watch it again if the distributors decided to re-release it. Edna Cervantes, an accountant with a Dubai-based company said that re-releasing the movie in its original version was a "bad idea".
Dubai is a romantic drama that revolves around two Filipino brothers who fall in love with a pretty Filipina expatriate while working in Dubai. The movie starred popular performers Aga Mulach, Claudine Baretto and John Lloyd Cruz.
