Fatima sends letter to Suzanne Mubarak

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Wife of President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU), has expressed support for the international efforts to form an international women's organisation to be known as "International Women's Movement for Global Peace (IWMGP)".

In a letter sent yesterday to Egyptian First Lady Suzanne Mubarak, Sheikha Fatima said she would relent no effort to garner the energy of women to build strong partnership with women organisations in various parts of the world to achieve global peace, adding that all the capabilities of the GWU would be put at the disposal of this noble cause.

She reiterated her commitment to boost the role of the IWMGP to enable it to function effectively to achieve its noble objectives, which include the spreading of the culture of peace, the renunciation of conflicts and wars and the provision of humane, peaceful and stable life for humanity at large.

"The increasing violence, armed conflicts and destructive wars raging today in various parts of the world, particularly in our region, coupled with the rapid regional and international developments, which warns of dangers ahead, are all strong evidences on the need to expedite the formation of such an important women's organisation, to enable it play an effective role in the spreading of social security and justice so as to achieve global peace, based on justice and international law," the letter said.
