Father and son K.S. Murthy and Srihari Murthy won the Main and Junior divisions of the Handicap Scheme Golf Day, supported by Taylor Made. The fifth event of the season was held over Dubai Country Club's Al Awir - sand course, on Friday.

The field started in a 1 pm shotgun and returned at dusk weary but fulfilled. The Country Club as always provided a fair but stiff test, and the hospitality afterwards contributed further to an enjoyable afternoon.

K.S. Murthy won the overall full handicap Stableford event with 36 points, returning equal nines of 18. Edmond McDonald took the second place on a count back after grinding out an excellent score of 35 points. McDonald was staring at a scorecard with only one point on it after his first four holes. Jimmy Camero was the victim of McDonalds' strong finish taking third place also with 35 points.

Srihari Murthy playing in his first Handicap Scheme Golf Day emulated his father by winning the Junior Division. Srihari returned the days best total of 39 points. Steve Bennett took the Best Gross Prize with 27 points (net- 34), he also took longest drive. Edmond McDonald also won the nearest the pin prize.

The qualifiers for the Golf Day Series Grand Final to be held at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on May 3 are K.S. Murthy, Edmond McDonald, Steve Bennett and Srihari Murthy.
The next Handicap Scheme Golf Day is at Nad Al Sheba on January 12 (1.30pm shotgun start).
