Fashion shows are in fashion these days and young, slim models are even replacing paunchy old Santa Claus at year-end parties. The Dubai International Women's Club celebrated the festival season with a fashion show recently. The festivities included fashion show by Etoile Boutique and a concert by Naira Loussoufova, Rita Kolenikova and their students, followed by carol singing.

The guests had been requested to come dressed in festive colours and to bring along a gift for underprivileged children. The tables in the ballroom of the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa were full of colourful decorations, lots of glitter, beautiful holly and pine wreaths and lots and lots of chocolates. Even the sandwiches were colourful with beetroot adding an unusual shade of pink to the table.

The evening began with the fashion show. Using a variation of the now popular 'fashion tea' format, the central aisle of the ballroom was used as the ramp. Etoile Boutique showed clothes and bags from Christian LaCroix, Christian LaCroix Bazaar, Polo Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Ungaro and Galliano. There were plenty of beige, black, burgundy, pink, blue, chocolate brown and red and bright abstract as well as Japanese style floral prints.
