Fake products destroyed in Sharjah

The Sharjah Municipality has confiscated and destroyed a large quantity of fake products bearing the Hitachi trademark from several outlets.

Following a complaint filed by Hitachi regarding instances of intellectual property right violations, civic officials in the Market Control and Commercial Fraud Inspection sections embarked upon a campaign to identify, confiscate and destroy the fake products and initiate legal action against the businessmen found selling pirated goods.

A Hitachi spokesman hailed the municipality's efforts in helping protect the commercial trademarks of the company and safeguarding its authorised agents' interests.

The spokesman also expressed the multinational's keenness in cooperating with the civic body to fight traders and importers dealing in such fakes, bearing famous trademarks.
