Ajman: A fire broke out in a fabric warehouse in Ajman’s new industrial area at midnight  Saturday, said Brigadier Mohammad Ali Al Suwaidi, acting director of  Ajman Civil Defence.

There were no casualties reported.

The warehouse was completely gutted in the blaze, which was reported at around 12am.

Firefighters from Ajman and Sharjah Civil Defence  managed to control the fire and prevented it from spreading to the adjacent warehouses. Firefighters spent two hours putting it out. A rescue team evacuated nearby buildings to ensure workers’ safety,  Brigadier Al Suwaidi said.

Police blocked all roads leading to the factory, allowing firefighters and ambulance personnel to reach the area quicker, leading to the fire being brought under control sooner, Brigadier Al Suwaidi said.

Forensic experts will be visiting the site to determine what caused the blaze.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Al Suwaidi appealed to owners of industrial facilities to properly maintain their fire-fighting systems, and store materials properly.
