Expensive Bridge Suite at Atlantis resort damaged in fire

Last updated:

Dubai: The $25,000 (Dh91,850) a night Bridge Suite at the Atlantis resort on Palm Jumeirah has reportedly been damaged by smoke, according to Gulf News sources.

The Bridge Suite is 924 square metres in size. It connects the west and east towers in the centre of the hotel, which is due to open later this month.

However, managing director of Atlantis, Alan Leibman, said on Thursday that only the external section of the roof and lobby dome had been damaged by the fire that broke out on Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for the hotel told Gulf News on Thursday that "there is no damage to the Bridge Suite".

Sources told Gulf News that the fire had been caused by an electrical fault. This has not been verified by officials.

The fire had threatened to delay the opening of the resort later this month, but officials are adamant that Atlantis will open its doors on time on September 24.
