“Expect the unexpected at MTV India Unplugged 2017”

Dubai: Indian Bollywood actor/singer Ayushmann Khurrana and Pakistani sensation Ali Zafar will perform together in Dubai on Friday. Asked what can be expected from the gig, Zafar said: “Something you’ve never seen before. Expect the unexpected.”

Crowd charmer

The concert promises to be an intimate affair as the duo will render unplugged versions of their popular songs. “We’ve put in a lot of effort for our Dubai show,” said Khurrana, adding the crowd has high expectations.

While he has been practising tunes from his latest hit flicks, Bareilly ki barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Meri Pyari Bindu, Zafar is looking forward to performing his personal favourite Dastan-e-ishq from Coke Studio 2011.

“We’ve done some interesting renditions of my songs including acoustic and more soulful versions of big pop numbers,” said Zafar.

Mutual respect

Although the duo will be performing together for the first time as headliners, they already share a great rapport thanks to the rehearsals for their hilarious act at Star Box office Awards last year.

“He [Ali] is a great guy with so much talent. It’s hard to not envy him,” said Khurrana. Similarly, Zafar is all praise for Khurrana. “He is a good friend to begin with. The fact that we have so many similarities between us makes it easier to gel,” he said.

As no trip to Dubai is complete without savouring some local delicacies, the two are looking forward to binging on some personal favourites. While Khurrana plans to visit Ravi restaurant for Pakistani food, Zafar will go for ‘Indian street food’.
