Expat dies in RAK car crash

Police said the victim lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a medium-sized truck

Dubai: A 51-year-old British motorist was killed in a traffic accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday night after his vehicle collided into a truck.

According to reports, the incident occurred opposite Al Safeer Mall along along Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Road, at around 6.30pm.

When notified of the traffic accident, Ras Al Khaimah Police immediately dispatched a unit of traffic patrols and paramedics to the site.

Police identified the victim as D.S, who died at the scene of the accident.

Reports indicated that the accident took place when the motorist lost control of the steering wheel, which was either caused by speeding or lack of concentration.  

Police said: "The victim was speeding and crashed into a medium-sized truck. The motorist was killed upon impact, while the Pakistani truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Saqr Hospital.”
