Etihad contact centre to conduct open day to recruit Emirati women

Al Ain: Etihad Airways will conduct an open day today between 10am and 4pm for Emirati women who wish to work for its newly opened contact centre in Al Ain.

The women-only contact centre with more than 80 Emiratis was opened yesterday by Mubarak Hamad Al Muhairi, Etihad's board member and chairman of the Executive Committee. James Hogan, the airline's CEO, attended the opening ceremony.

The national carrier is looking to recruit more Emirati women for the contact centre located in the Falaj Hazza district, which has been designed to suit women with flexible working hours, allowing them to develop their careers while balancing their careers and personal and family life.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Muhairi said the all-female centre is a milestone that reflects the country's vision for a highly skilled workforce comprising an increasing number of UAE nationals.

The drive to boost employment opportunities in Al Ain and other regional centres has recently been cited as a key imperative at a high-level meeting, he said.

"Our job is to ensure that Emiratis are offered the right training and the right work environment to excel in their field, in turn making a strong impact on the workforce and their country's economic development," Al Muhairi said.

Hogan said the national carrier is fully committed to growing its Emirati workforce. "Each lady working here is an ambassador for Etihad, and she positively represents the national airline's image to people across the world."

Each Emirati woman at the centre, said Hogan, has taken a nine-month training programme to handle calls from Etihad's guests and travel trade partners.
