Fujairah: Operations at a cement factory in Fujairah have been halted after a malfunction in one of the operational stages caused thick smoke to rise from the chimney.

The incident prompted a swift response from the Environmental Monitoring and Control Team of the Fujairah Environment Authority to address the malfunction, immediately upon receiving an official report from the factory itself about the issue.

The specialised teams met with the factory’s operations team and the operations manager. The inspection team from the Authority completed a comprehensive inspection of the factory’s operational processes, ensuring compliance with the environmental regulations stipulated by the Fujairah Environment Authority and the implementation of federal and local laws regarding environmental preservation.

The factory has shown its cooperation by committing to an immediate shutdown to reduce pollution resulting from the malfunction, in order to protect the environment and fulfil their social responsibility. They confirmed their commitment to providing a comprehensive action plan to repair the current technical malfunction as quickly as possible and to avoid facing such technical malfunctions in the future.

The factory also submitted a comprehensive technical report to the relevant authorities to ensure the accuracy of operational procedures, inspect the operating machines in the factory, the filters used, and the necessary technologies for purifying the emitted smoke to ensure that the air and surrounding environment are not polluted, and to prevent its spread in residential areas.
