The three-day event was inaugurated by Dr Saeed Al Hossani, undersecretary of Ministry of Education
Al Ain: Emirati jobseekers and students on Monday flocked to Al Ain Education and Career Fair to explore opportunities for professional openings and higher studies.
The three-day event was inaugurated by Dr Saeed Al Hossani, undersecretary of Ministry of Education, along with a number of other senior officials including Dr Abdullah Khanbashi, vice-chancellor of the UAE University.
The fair, holding at Al Ain Convention Centre, has brought together some the country's largest organisations and prestigious educational institutions with young Emirati graduates and school leavers contemplating their future career direction and educational aspiration.
"It's an excellent event," said Muhammad Salem Al Shamsi, an Emirati graduate visiting the fair. "I have obtained essential information to plan my career," he said. Al Shamsi said his ambition is to join armed forces particularly the special services group to serve the nation.
Majida Al Muhairi, another school leaver, said she want to pursue higher education and the fair has helped her in making an informed decision. "Top national and foreign universities have gathered, enabling students to get required information under one roof," she said.
Supported by Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP), it is also the only event in the city that provides a unique platform for leading employers to search for talented Emiratis in an effort to support their emiratisation initiatives.
A number of leading organisations from different economic sectors such as aviation, oil and gas, telecommunications, healthcare, industries and manufacturing, hospitality and insurance have been participating in the fair.
Eassa Al Mulla, Executive Director for the National Work Force Development at the ENDP, said his organisation is a strong advocate of Emirati jobseekers to join private sector. The career fair, he said, places an emphasis on integrating Emiratis into private sector work force.
"The event is a perfect opportunity for UAE National jobseekers to meet with some of the country's leading private organisations across a broad range of sectors, while also providing a platform to educate Emiratis about different career directions available to them through intensive career guidance and assessment centres," said Al Mulla.
With more than 7,000 visitors attending the fair last year 2011, Al Ain Education and Career Fair will return this year with regular show features, psychometric assessment centre, and an advice clinic, Qualified Emirati counsellors will be on hand to provide advice and guidance to visitors on the career paths most suitable for them.
The event will be opened from 10am to 7pm daily from Monday 30 April to Wednesday 2 May. Ladies only timing will be from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday, May 1.
