New centre at UAE Swat Challenge manages 90% of cases without referring them to hospital

Dubai: Dubai Police has established a new ‘Health Hub’ centre to support athletes from its specialised teams participating in the UAE Swat Challenge 2025.
The centre is equipped with the latest technologies and specialised medical equipment for treating sports injuries. It facilitates rapid recovery and ensures participants are physically and mentally prepared for each event through its advanced medical services. This initiative, in collaboration with the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and Mediclinic, marks a significant advancement in healthcare for on-field athletes.
Colonel Dr Mohammed Al Haj, Director of Travel Services and Treatment Affairs at the General Department of Administrative Affairs and Supervisor of the ‘Health Hub,’ said that physical performance alone is no longer sufficient for success in modern sports.
“Rapid recovery processes and advanced treatment methods have become essential to training and competition strategies. Thus, the ‘Health Hub’ serves as a cornerstone for enhancing the daily performance and readiness of participating teams and is part of the major sporting events organised by Dubai Police,” Al Haj said.
Al Haj pointed out that the centre introduces innovative approaches in sports medicine and emergency care, successfully managing 90 per cent of the cases received during the five days of the challenge without needing to refer them to hospitals, except for advanced medical cases. He added that 156 medical cases were handled, and 978 participants provided recovery and rehabilitation services.
Advanced technology, free services
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Khaled Ibrahim Al Khayat, Director of Medical Operations at the Health Hub, said that they offer comprehensive range of medical and therapeutic services, including physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
“The centre utilises modern techniques such as cryotherapy and infrared treatments to accelerate recovery, manage inflammation, reduce muscle pain and cramps, and alleviate swelling. Additional services like massage, stretching exercises, and ice baths help restore balance and relieve tension from intense physical activity. Dubai Police provides these services free of charge to participating teams on-site throughout the challenge days,” he noted.
Al Khayat highlighted that the centre stands out due to its comprehensive services.
“Beyond medical and physical therapy, it emphasises health and nutrition awareness among athletes. This includes offering specialised consultations, educating participants on the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and choosing foods that enhance physical performance and accelerate recovery,” Al Khayat added.
