Team shows unparalleled professionalism in repsone to Myanmar’s devastating earthquake.

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to solidify its role as a global leader in humanitarian assistance, swiftly deploying a specialised search and rescue team to Myanmar following a powerful earthquake that devastated large parts of the country. This mission marks the latest chapter in the UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing immediate aid during natural disasters.
In response to the destruction caused by the earthquake, which resulted in significant loss of life and widespread damage to infrastructure, the UAE dispatched its elite rescue team to Myanmar. The team was honoured last week by the Myanmar government for their outstanding efforts in the hardest-hit areas. This swift and effective intervention came under the direct orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
Challenging conditions
The UAE’s Search and Rescue Team, composed of members from Abu Dhabi Police, the National Guard, and the Joint Operations Command, brought unmatched expertise to Myanmar’s emergency response. Operating in extremely challenging conditions, the team adhered to the highest safety protocols, conducting structural evaluations and extracting survivors from rubble. Their collaboration with local authorities and international partners enhanced the operational effectiveness and scope of their relief efforts.
Over the past week, the team has carried out operations across six sites, using a rotational system of day and night shifts to maximise their coverage of the affected regions.
