Abu Dhabi: Saab, a leading provider of defense and security solutions, has launched its Coast Control Radar at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Developed in the UAE, this state-of-the-art, software-defined, non-rotating phased array radar represents the latest generation of coastal surveillance technology.

Ensuring the security of regional waterways and managing maritime traffic are critical to enhancing ship safety, maintaining national sovereignty, and supporting global economic growth. Saab’s Coast Control Radar plays a vital role in achieving these objectives through its compact and modular design, which delivers exceptional performance, including the ability to track small vessels in complex coastal environments.

Developed in collaboration with the Tawazun Council, the radar is designed for seamless integration and flexible installation on various infrastructure elements such as buildings, towers, and bridge structures. It provides comprehensive 360-degree coverage while its modular architecture minimises installation challenges. Additionally, routine software updates ensure continuous and exceptional monitoring capabilities.

Developed at Saab’s Research & Development facility within the Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi, the launch of the Coast Control Radar underscores the company’s long-term commitment to investing in the UAE’s defense and security sector.
