Sharjah: Flames gutted three warehouses containing electrical appliances in Industrial Area No. 1 in Sharjah on Monday afternoon. Workers escaped unhurt as the fire ripped through the buildings, according to Sharjah Civil Defence Authority.

The Civil Defence teams have brought the blaze under control and they managed to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby warehouses.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters have started cooling operations, an official said.

The police operations room received a report at 3:35pm indicating that a fire had broken out in three warehouses. Immediately, the relevant fire-fighting centres were notified, and they arrived quickly at the scene of the incident. The teams promptly began their work to contain the fire, with no injuries reported, and they are currently managing the situation.

Sharjah Police sealed off roads leading to the warehouses, allowing only emergency vehicles to pass.

The site will handed over to forensic expert to find out the reason behind the fire.
