Sharjah: In a heartfelt display of empathy and swift action, Sharjah Police recently responded to a distress call from a 10-year-old boy concerned for his mother’s well-being after his father’s sudden passing. Overwhelmed and unsure how to help, the child reached out to the police with a touching message:

"My mom is very tired, and I feel like she needs help—not with money, but with advice. How can I make her happy? How can I be a good son to her?"

Swift action and emotional support

Sharjah Police treated the plea with urgency, dispatching a specialised team to the family's home. Upon arrival, officers found the mother struggling emotionally, coping with the immense grief of losing her husband while shouldering the responsibility of raising her children alone.

Beyond Security: A compassionate approach

Instead of limiting their response to law enforcement duties, Sharjah Police provided moral support, listening to the mother’s fears and challenges.

Recognising the need for long-term recovery, they connected her with social institutions offering psychological counseling and essential services.

She was also enrolled in rehabilitation programs designed to help her develop coping strategies, balance family and work responsibilities, and regain emotional stability. Officials emphasised that this holistic approach would benefit both her and her children.

Sharjah Police: A role beyond law enforcement

Sharjah Police reiterated their commitment to public safety while emphasising their role in crisis support. By offering assistance with full transparency and confidentiality, they aim to strengthen families during vulnerable times.

"Security isn’t just about law enforcement—it’s also about supporting families in crisis," said a Sharjah Police spokesperson. "Our doors are always open, and we are committed to serving the community with care and respect."

Strengthening community ties

The response to the child’s distress call coincided with the fifth edition of the Community and Partners Forum, an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between law enforcement, government agencies, and local communities to enhance security and social stability.

Brigadier Ibrahim Meshbah Al Ajil, Director General of the General Department of Comprehensive Police Centers, emphasised the importance of cooperation in tackling issues such as crime prevention and drug abuse.

"This collaboration helps create sustainable solutions for security challenges that impact community life," he stated.

Brigadier Dr. Ali Al Kay Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, highlighted how these efforts align with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, who advocates for social cohesion and family stability.

Looking ahead: A commitment to social stability

The forum also explored how Sharjah Police can adapt to rapid technological and social changes while ensuring family stability, which is directly linked to community security.

Sharjah Police reaffirmed their dedication to holistic community support, extending beyond law enforcement to help families in distress. Their proactive approach demonstrates how policing can positively impact individuals—not just by maintaining order, but by fostering a supportive and stable society.
