Dubai: In a horrible accident, four young Arab men were killed after their car plunged into the water from a bridge on Khalida Street near the Sharjah Central Market and Al Jubail Souq.

Sharjah Police said the accident was reproted at 2.45am on Friday. A car carrying four young Arab men fell from the bridge into the water and sunk. Three of the passengers were declared dead on the spot while the fourth one died on Saturday.

People present at the scene reported the incident to authorities, but could not do anything to save their lives.

Maritime rescue teams, police patrols and ambulances rushed to the spot after receiving reports about the accident.

The vehicle was retrieved from the water and the bodies were transferred to hospital around 5am and then to a forensic laboratory for autopsy.

Nationalities

Three of the victims were Syrian and one was Egyptian with ages ranging between 21 to 27 years.

Police investigations revealed that the driver and the passengers had failed to open doors of the vehicle sunk in the deep water as they got stuck inside the vehicle.

While three of them died on the spot, one of them was recovered unconscious. He later died in the hospital.

Police said the accident occurred due to speeding, lack of concentration and sudden swerving.
