Sharjah: Firefighting teams are continuing intensive efforts to extinguish a major blaze that broke out on Saturday morning at Al Hamriyah Port, involving highly flammable materials. Authorities have confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far, crediting a swift and coordinated field response by multiple agencies.
The operation is being led by the General Command of Sharjah Police, the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, and national emergency teams, with support from Civil Defence units across the UAE, the Ministry of Defence, the National Guard, Joint Aviation, and the municipalities of Sharjah City and Al Hamriyah. All teams are working under a unified emergency response framework focused on containing the fire with maximum safety and efficiency.
Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Head of the Local Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team, confirmed that firefighting operations are ongoing. He stressed that protecting lives and property remains the top priority.
He also noted that specialised teams are using advanced equipment and adhering to the highest operational standards. Emergency teams remain on site as operations continue.
