Famous poets from India, Pakistan and UAE mesmerised the audience with their recitations
Abu Dhabi: Poets from Indian, Pakistan, US and UAE gathered at the 12th International Urdu Mushaira (poetry reading) held in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
A large number of Urdu-speaking members from across the UAE attended the event which was presided over by a noted scholar and poet Dr Peerzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui from Pakistan.
Moazzam Ahmad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE, who was the chief guest, said that poetry played an important role in establishing, refining and sustaining a language. “Therefore, we all should strive to encourage Urdu poetry which is also a source of inspiration and integration for Urdu-speaking communities from around the world,” he said.
Some noted poets including Hassan Abbasi, Nisar Ahmad, Azhar Inayati, Alina Ittrat, Dr. Kaleem Qaiser, Dr. Zubair Farooq and Naheed Virk mesmerised the audience with their poetry recitation.
