Abu Dhabi: Government schools across the UAE will conduct a mock electronic exam for students in Years 5 to 12 on Monday, June 2, 2025. The exam, covering subjects such as Social Studies and Science, is intended to prepare students for the upcoming end-of-year assessments for the 2024/2025 academic year.

In a circular sent to parents and students, schools emphasised that this is the second mock electronic exam of the year. The key objective is to assess students’ readiness—both academically and technically—for the centralised final exams in the third term.

Mandatory attendance and device requirements

Attendance is compulsory for all students. They must bring their ministry-issued devices; however, personal laptops or tablets may be used if they meet technical requirements. The exam ensures that both students and their devices are fully prepared for the final assessments.

Practice, not graded performance

The mock exam will not contribute to student grades. It serves purely as a preparatory exercise to help schools identify potential technical issues and ensure the smooth execution of the actual final exams.

Short, school-timed test

Like the previous mock exam in March, the upcoming test will last 30 minutes. Each school will decide when to conduct it within the school day. Students must remember their student ID and password—schools will offer reset support if needed.

Testing infrastructure and support systems

The exercise also evaluates the functionality of school networks, system efficiency, and IT team readiness. Additionally, it aims to familiarise students with the digital exam platform, supporting the Ministry of Education’s move towards digital learning and assessment tools.

Final exams around the corner

End-of-year final exams are scheduled from June 10 to 19, 2025. The mock exam offers students a valuable opportunity to gain confidence and troubleshoot issues ahead of these formal assessments.

No make-up exams

Schools have clarified that there will be no make-up sessions for this mock exam. As a non-evaluative exercise, its purpose is strictly preparatory, and student cooperation is essential.

Reflecting on the first mock exam

The first mock exam, held on March 3, was successfully completed by students in Years 5 to 12. It tested similar subjects, followed the second-term plan, and helped assess technical preparedness. Schools reported smooth execution and affirmed that the experience helped students and staff get ready for the March final exams.

Digital proficiency

The Ministry of Education sees these mock exams as a key initiative in building students’ digital competence and ensuring the integrity of final exams. By identifying issues early, schools can take corrective measures and deliver a seamless testing experience for all.
