The US University Fair will bring 30 higher education institutions to Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah this week
The UAE will play host to a group of 30 American universities and colleges during their visit to Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai on November 10 and 11 respectively. Organised by the US Educational Group, the US University Fair will provide students with information on visa procedures, university costs, housing, admission tests and scholarship opportunities.
“The US Educational Group (USEG) has been conducting fairs in the UAE for over 12 years. The area has always been a great educational recruiting market for US universities because the students have been engaged and have valued the educational process,” said Joseph Z. Humadi, USEG president. “During the upcoming fair we will have over 30 university admissions officers available to answer your questions and give you all the information you need to make your dreams of studying in America a reality.”
The fair is being held for the first time in Ras Al Khaimah, at Higher Colleges of Technology, Ras Al Khaimah Men’s College auditorium from 11am to 3pm this Tuesday.
A day later, the fair will move to Dubai, where it will be held at the Movenpick Hotel from 6-9pm.
Programmes of interest
Among the programmes attracting increased student interest are masters programmes in business administration. This is likely to be reflected at the US University Fair. According to David Williams in the QS TopMBA newsletter, “MBAs have traditionally had two benefits in a recession. They provide an opportunity for graduates to avoid the worst of the downturn in the employment market while simultaneously enabling them to invest in new skills that will give an advantage when the upturn comes. This time is different, however, and there is a third benefit. The downturn has been so profound that it is marking a watershed in attitudes to areas as fundamental as CSR [Corporate Social Responsibility] and sustainability, corporate governance and the relationship between business and government. Taking an MBA at this time places graduates at the intellectual eye of the storm and an opportunity to be part of redefining where business will go from here.”
Whether you are aspiring to go for a bachelor’s programme or a masters, the American fair will equip you with the tools necessary to secure a place in an American institution. By preregistering, you can view the names of the exhibitors, do your research, go well prepared for the fair and make the most of your window of opportunity when the Americans come to town.
