Abu Dhabi: Musanada has announced a multi-billion dirham plan to replace run-down schools with 15 brand new educational facilities in Abu Dhabi.
The pioneering project is split into six tender packages and was awarded to five separate contractors.
The Dh1.494 billion scheme is the first phase of an ambitious plan to build 100 schools in the next 10 years in order to help raise the level of education in Abu Dhabi.
The project's main objective is to build schools where they’re urgently needed, such as in remote areas. It also plans to replace existing 25 year-old schools and caravans with modern facilities that meet international standards.
Musanada has come up with a pioneering design for the new facilities, with the aim of achieving a design rating of three pearls as per Estidama guidelines – a first for schools in the Emirate.
Engineer Ali Al Mehairbi, Construction Director commented: "We have worked closely with ADEC and UPC to set and refine criteria for the design of the new schools. It is only through such commitment and collaboration between partners that we can achieve excellence and the 2030 vision and objectives of the Abu Dhabi Government."
