The 2024–2025 academic year resit exams are set to begin for students in Grades 4-12
The Ministry of Education’s dedicated team responsible for preparing and overseeing the resit exams in public and private schools following the national curriculum has commenced final preparations ahead of the exams, which begin tomorrow, Friday.
The team is currently finalizing the review of all exam questions, which will be administered entirely electronically, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness for all targeted student categories. Additionally, the team continues to closely monitor technical and operational aspects of the digital testing system, verifying system readiness and the availability of technical support throughout the examination period to ensure smooth execution without disruptions.
The 2024–2025 academic year resit exams are set to begin tomorrow, Friday, for students in Grades 4 through 12 across all educational tracks implementing the national curriculum. The exams will continue through Thursday, July 10.
The resit exams apply to students who did not achieve the minimum passing grade in any subject within Group A at the end of the academic year. Students will be awarded the higher score between the final exam and the resit result. The Ministry specified that Grade 4 exams will be conducted in paper format, requiring physical attendance in schools, while students in Grades 5 through 12 will take the exams electronically, also in person at schools.
All students are required to bring their personal electronic devices during the exam period. For Grade 12 students enrolled in private schools, resit exams will be administered in public schools under joint supervision with school branch coordinators.
Grade 12 students will begin their exam schedule on July 4 with Mathematics, followed by Physics and Social Studies on Monday, Arabic and Chemistry on Tuesday, English and Biology on Wednesday, and conclude on Thursday with Islamic Education. Exams will be held in two daily sessions: the first from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and the second from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Regarding the Chemistry exam, the Ministry confirmed that school administrations for both the General and Advanced streams will print and distribute the periodic table to students during the exam. Students in the Elite Track will use the periodic table available through the Swift Assess platform within the media browser.
In an official announcement on its website, the Ministry emphasized that resit exams will be conducted exclusively in electronic format, with no paper-based alternatives. Absences, even with valid excuses, will not entitle students to retake the exams. This policy reinforces the need for students to be present and adhere strictly to the published exam schedule.
The Ministry clarified that resit exams for the end of the 2024–2025 academic year will focus solely on third-term content for students in Grades 3 to 12 in public and private schools implementing the national curriculum.
There is no maximum limit to the number of subjects a student may retake. Students are allowed to sit for resit exams regardless of how many subjects they failed.
Separately, the Ministry outlined three reasons that may lead to a student’s academic certificate being withheld. Parents or guardians are advised to contact the school administration to resolve the issue.
According to the Ministry’s digital platform under the “FAQs” section, certificates may be withheld for the following reasons: outstanding financial obligations, failure to return the school-issued computer device, or failure to update personal information. In such cases, students or their guardians must coordinate with the relevant school administration to obtain further details and complete the required procedures.
