Dubai: The Ministry of Education has approved a new schedule in which students will begin and leave school an hour earlier.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Education on Monday.

The ministry said that the new schedule will be implemented for the third semester and summer classes for 2016.

The first class at public schools for boys will start at 7.15am from Sunday, May 1.

Classes will end at 12.50pm for primary school students, instead of the previous schedule in which classes ended at 1.45pm, while preparatory (Grade 7 to 9) and secondary (Grade 10 to 12) students will be dismissed at 1.35pm instead of 2.35pm.

Public schools for girls will begin classes at 8am. Classes for primary school students will end at 1.35pm, instead of 2.30pm. Preparatory and secondary school students will finish classes at 2.20pm, instead of 3.20pm.

The ministry also announced that Sunday to Wednesday will consist of eight classes for students from grade 7 to 12, while Thursday will only consist of seven classes. Each class will be for 40 minutes, except for the first class, which will be 45 minutes long, in which the five minutes are designated for recital of the national anthem
