Dubai: The latest edition of the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX), the leading student recruitment platform in the Middle East and Asia, opens on Wednesday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event, which runs until April 15, will host more than 300 exhibitors from nearly 35 countries, featuring over 2,000 programmes, according to organisers.

GETEX 2016 will offer opportunities for international education and training providers to interact with regional students and enlighten them about various study options.

This year’s edition of GETEX will have a new feature with the ‘University Panel Discussion and Q&A Session’ that will allow for interaction between students, parents and faculty members in an open forum. In addition, the GETEX Counsellor Forum will host over 80 regional career guidance counsellors in a closed session. The GETEX Counsellors forum includes a series of presentations and workshops intended to engage and assist student counsellors in their role of assessing and advising students on their further study and career choices.

Anselm Godinho, managing director, International Conferences and Exhibitions, said: “In continuation with its exceptional track record, GETEX 2016 always achieves an exceptional year-on-year exhibitor retention rate. It is a result-oriented platform for education providers to meet and provide information to students and their parents.”

The show, he said, always generates considerable on-the-spot applications, which go a long way in helping universities achieve their enrolment quotas.

This year’s edition will throw the spotlight on industry-specific sectors such as medicine, engineering and finance. In addition, GETEX 2016 will focus on vocational and applied educational courses to offer students and working learners more avenues to enhance their professional competencies and contribute towards the socioeconomic development of the community.
