Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, on Tuesday honoured Emiratis who are holders of PhD degrees during the Rashid Award for Academic Excellence ceremony.
Shaikh Hamdan honoured a total of 67 doctorate degree holders and three who have been promoted to the rank of professors. He congratulated them on their educational achievements, and wished them more success in their work and educational endeavours. Shaikh Hamdan later took a commemorative photo with the honorees. The 26th edition of the award was organised by the Culture and Scientific Association (SCA).
Addressing the ceremony, Ali Obaid Al Hameli, board member of the SCA, thanked His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the attention he provides to the field of education.
“The UAE leadership works for the happiness and welfare of citizens and residents. It is just as Shaikh Mohammad said: ‘The government is not an authority to rule over the people, it is an authority to serve the people,’” said Al Hameli.
The ceremony was attended by Mohammad Ahmad Al Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council and other senior officials.
