Dubai: Global leaders in training and development will share their expertise with approximately 1,500 delegates from 30 countries at the annual world conference of IFTDO, the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations today.

The 37th IFTDO conference is being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai will inaugurate and chair the conference, being held at the international convention centre.

This year's conference, which is hosted by the Dubai Police Academy under the theme Knowledge and Human Resources, will focus on four main topics, knowledge creation and human resources management, fast forward technologies in education and training, socio-economic trends, and knowledge work environments.

Speakers at the conference include, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, who will speak on Knowledge creation and human resource management strategies for development of knowledge workers in a police department.

The conference will also be addressed by Dr Abdullah Al Karam, director-general of Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and D Mansour Al Awar, vice-president of e-TQM College.

The four-day conference will place special emphasis on the Middle East's specific needs for training and development.

IFTDO was founded in Geneva in 1972 and is a diversified network of human resource management and organisations that represent more than 500,000 professionals in 50 countries.

Only member countries can bid for the world congress and Dubai's bid was based on the efforts made by Dubai Police affiliated Security and Administration Science Institute (SASI) established in 1997 to provide training, development, and consultancy services to various types of government authorities and public sector employees and a member of the IFTDO since 2004.
