Girls outshine boys in Kerala board examinations
Dubai/Abu Dhabi: Girls have yet again outshone boys in this year's Secondary School Leaving Certificate Grade 10 of the Kerala Board.
This year the total number of pupils who appeared in the examination was 505,201, out of which 376,886 qualified for higher education. About 4,269 scored A+ of which 2,966 are girls and 1,303 are boys.
M.A. Baby, Education Minister of Kerala, said from Thiruvananthapuram that this year the girls have outshone boys and there were record results.
Changes
According to principals of schools in the UAE, absolute grading (instead of marks), introduced this year, made pupils feel relaxed.
S. Nair, Vice-Principal of the New India Model School, Dubai said a pupil's aptitude is tested through the examination.
He said: “Overall there is a 20 per cent increase in the pass percentage compared to last year. Let us hope that next year we get a cent percent overall result.''
Model School, Abu Dhabi: All the 122 pupils who appeared
for the exam have cleared the exams. Of them, about 17 secured A+ scores.
They are Sonu Kumar, Afra Manar, Rasha Nazir, Angala Papachan, Shonima Hariharan, Furzana Valiyakath, Soumya Mohan, Lakshmi Thribhuvaran, Shahana Mariyam, Anju Sara Abraham, Faseeha Abdul Nazir, Habeeba Basheer, Fatima Fazrin, Jiji Venugopal, Shadiya Ebrahim Kutty, Jisha Annie Jacob and Riya Pious.
New Indian Model School, Dubai: A total of 121 pupils appeared for the examination and among them four secured A+ in nine out of 10 subjects.
They are Bhavana P. Nair, Christy M. George, Marjan M. Abdul Nazeer, and Nida Sakeer.
Al Majd School: A total of 36 pupils appeared for the examination and the school scored 100 per cent success rate.
About three pupils secured A+ in nine out of the 10 subjects.
They are Munaza A. Majeed, Aneesu Rehman and Alia Farook.
New India Model School, Al Ain: A total of 41 pupils appeared for the examination and the school witnessed 100 per cent success rate.
Helen Baby Thomas topped the school with 8A+ and 2A.
Indian School, Fujairah: A total of 46 pupils appeared and the school saw a full success rate. Four pupils secured A+ in nine out of 10 subjects. They are Deepak Pradeep, Naveen Krishnan, Shifa Shakeel and Deepa Mohan.
Gulf Model School, Dubai: A total of 100 pupils appeared for the examination and all of them cleared the exams.
Archana Ramesh topped with 9A+ and 1A.
Our Own Indian School, Dubai: A total of 47 pupils appeared for the examination. Hiba Thasleem Ali topped with 10A+.
New Indian Model School, Sharjah: A total of 80 pupils appeared for the examination. Hajara Saddique Ali topped with 10A+.
Al Manal Private School, RAK: Sumaiya Abdul Qadir with 10A+, Asiya Shabir Ahmad Khan with 9A+ and Nityush V. Mohanan with 5A+ were the toppers.
