Dubai: The 14 National Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2017 is taking place on May 12 at Al Nasr Leisureland in Dubai.

Organised by UCMAS, each student taking part in the competition will receive a paper of 200 arithmetical sums, which include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division depending on their UCMAS level and category. Participants are given eight minutes to solve as many problems as they can. The UCMAS is a programme which aims at developing and exploiting the capabilities of the right brain to the fullest extent possible through mental arithmetic.

Mental Arithmetic is a form of calculation that does not involve the use of any physical or external gadgets, instruments such as a calculator or a computer. The calculations are solely done by human mind using mental power.
