Dubai: Innovation in education will in focus at the 18th edition of the Global Education Forum (GEF) and the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) to be held in Dubai on February 24-26.

The three-day forum to be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre was announced in a press conference on Wednesday by Hussain Bin Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, who said the ministry has established a new plan for the development of education over the next six years (2015-21), to develop generations of scientists, creators and innovators.

There will be over 200 sessions and over 100 speakers discussing developments, innovations and concerns facing the education sector in the region and the world.

Sharief Fahmy, CEO of F&E Group, an organiser of GEF and GESS, said GESS Dubai will showcase how technology can be harnessed to raise education standards.

“GESS Dubai brings leading education companies together. Educators can attend the event and see, touch and talk to these companies and find out which one is best suited for their institutions,” he said.

According to Fahmy, this year’s conference will highlight some of the most recent advances in education, including an interactive display of innovations and live demonstrations of 3D technologies.

International experts will share insights on the latest advances in digital education and how apps and other technology can be harnessed towards better teaching and learning in classrooms.

The forum will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
