Centres to help students cope
Dubai: Three counselling centres have been set up after more than 7,000 Indian students in the Gulf region found out their high school exam results on Friday.
The centres are in Dubai, Doha and Kuwait and they will deal with any stress situations the students might face.
A help line has been set up at the Indian School in Dubai.
The Central Board of Secondary Education is offering free counselling to help children cope with disappointments over the results which generate great anxiety for both students and parents, it states on the website.
However, principal Vandana Marwaha of Delhi Private School in Sharjah said the helpline in the UAE is not very active as compared to those in India. "The competition in India is very much higher," she said.
"Here children are more protected," said the principal, noting that kids in the UAE need better time-management (to study for the exams). "Children here are hooked on (after school) tuitions."
