Dubai: Aspiring novelists still have time to enter the 2014 Montegrappa First Fiction Competition, which has already put two previous entrants on the road to becoming published authors.

Organisers of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature have confirmed the deadline for entries is January 11. The competition, which is open exclusively for adults, gives new writers the chance to have their work reviewed by leading UK literary agent Luigi Bonomi. The winner is also flown to the London Book Fair and is awarded a Montegrappa pen and the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook.

To enter the Montegrappa First Fiction competition, unpublished writers over the age of 21 must send a 400-word synopsis and the first 2,000 words of their fiction manuscript for consideration via the LitFest website, emirateslitfest.com/First-Fiction-2014.
