Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) started training sessions for public and private school coordinators and supervisors of the two international tests named "The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS)" and "Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS)" assessment tests. The UAE takes part in these two tests for the first time.

"We aim to meet the highest international standards, develop student's creative thinking and analysis skills and enable students to compete with their peers globally," Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Adec's Director General, said.

64 private schools and 179 public schools will benefit from this training. These schools have been selected randomly by The IEA (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement).

TIMS and PIRLS tests will be conducted during the period from February 20 through April 25 within the school day. The IEA has selected international quality tests' monitors. IEA will also be awarding certificates to all participants, whether students, teachers or school managements.
